Summer 2018 – STARTALK: Planning for Engaged Language Learning

CLASSRoad is pleased to welcome Nicole Naditz, 2015 ACTFL National Teacher of the Year, as the new lead instructor for our popular STARTALK 2018 summer teacher course! Nicole will be joined by special guest instructor, Dr. Jennifer Eddy.

STARTALK: Planning for Engaged Language Learning, will provide an opportunity for experienced Arabic, Chinese and Persian language teachers to work together in a collaborative online learning experience to build their ability to: 1) use the backward design process to plan for meaningful student engagement, 2) create daily performance objectives that capture student energy and commitment and that move them toward proficiency targets, and 3) provide comprehensible input while using the target language 90% of the time. The STARTALK mission is to increase the number of U.S. citizens learning, speaking, and teaching critical need foreign languages. STARTALK summer teacher programs offer critical need foreign language teachers with experiences that advance best practices in language education and in language teacher development.

The application window for the 2018 summer course opens April 5th, and applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis, so apply early!
